The Seamaster is the longest-running product line still produced by Omega. It was introduced in 1948 and was loosely based upon designs made for the British Royal Navy towards the end of World War II. The original Seamaster's key feature was an O-ring gasket used to provide its waterproof seal.
Some notable models within the Seamaster collection include the Seamaster Planet Ocean, Seamaster Aqua Terra, and the aforementioned Seamaster Professional Diver 300M. The Seamaster has gained widespread recognition not only for its technical prowess and reliability but also for its association with the James Bond franchise, where it has been featured prominently in several films.
In 1957, when scuba diving was the en vogue sport, Omega rolled out a trio of 'Master' watches - The Speedmaster, The Railmaster, and The Seamaster 300. Unlike its predecessor, the Seamaster 300 was specifically designed for underwater use.
What’s On Offer
We are pleased to offer this extremely rare Omega Seamaster 300 model reference 165.014-63sc dating the year 1964. Also included with this exceptional piece of kit are the original bracelet and end links making this an even more extraordinary timepiece. Not only that, the original box, papers and extracts from the Omega archives in Switzerland come with this watch.
Analysing the cosmetic condition of this piece, it has been very well-preserved since its issue date all that time ago. The bezel has most likely been repainted at some point in its life but it is obvious it was a long while ago as there is wear that can be still seen. The underside of the watch has seen the most wear, displaying scratches and minor blemishes but is overall good and has no major issues. Very light blemishes can be seen in various places around the front of the case but are completely minor and do not take an ounce of beauty away from this great watch.
The features of this watch consist of iconic Seamaster design aspects which have aged beautifully to what this watch is today, a vintage masterpiece. Originally solid black, the dial has become weathered with time tying in nicely with the climate-weathered, caramel hour markers and hands which add a lovely vintage feel. The watch is completely encased in stainless steel with a Seamaster engraved screw-down caseback and folding clasp.
Once part of the VWS owner's collection, this Omega has been meticulously cared for and we are very excited for it to be available for purchase. If you wish to learn more about this watch, we are happy to answer all your questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
